Curriculum -
In Reception we follow a 'book based' curriculum, focusing on core books to help develop children's interest, experiences and learning.
Below is our long term plan, showing the development of the key texts we explore over the year.
Throughout Autumn 1 we will be exploring the texts 'This is our house', 'Six Dinner Sid' and 'Handa's Surprise'.
PE Days
This half term our PE will take place every Tuesday and Thursday.
Please remember the children take part in outdoor learning every day so waterproof coats are a must!
Jewellery is not to be worn at any time.
Homework
Every half term the children take part in a 'project' linked to their class learning.
This half term our homework project asks the children to create a picture of their house. They can complete this task however they choose!

Reading
Reception is where children typically begin their reading journey! We start this journey by developing a love of reading. To help support this, and to help create good reading habits, the children will bring home 'sharing stories'. These books are to be shared with an adult throughout the week.
Reading books will be changed every Monday and Friday.
Read Write Inc
Once the children begin their RWI journey they will be introduced to letter sounds. Sound cards will then be sent home to help children practise the sounds. These cards should be practised daily with an adult.
